“In 2025, I can’t allow you to play a safe defense and still have success,” Orlovsky said. “They’re in nickel, it feels like, on every single snap. … New England’s using the nickel the third-most in the NFL. As great as the New England story has been, if New England consistently thinks that they’re going to be allowed to line up and play nickel defense, in a win-or-go-home game against some teams in the AFC that can and will play smash-mouth, multiple tight ends, fullback-on-the-field football, it’ll be an early exit if they get into the playoffs.”



The rest of the schedule doesn’t seem to be dangerous to the Patriots in that regard. The only two teams with solid running games are the Bills and the Baltimore Ravens, whom they face in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively.&nbsp;

In 11 games, Maye has gone 230 of 320 for 2,836 yards and 20 touchdowns against five interceptions. His improvement is clear, as he’s gone from 66.6% completion to 71.9%, an 88.1 passer rating to 113.2, and a 55.2 QBR to 74.1.&nbsp;



The Patriots are one of the best teams in the AFC, and Maye is one of the best players in the league.&nbsp;

Only once has this defense allowed more than 24 points in the season. At the same time, the Pats have allowed 20 or less points in seven games. Yes, the schedule has been somewhat easy, but when you really look at it, you can see some decent units unable to move the chains.



The Bills were limited to only 20 points, the Steelers to 21 and the Buccaneers to 23. Hence, it’s time to give credit where credit is due. After all, offense wins games, but a complete roster can actually dream with something way bigger.

On Thursday night, Maye delivered another elite performance, finishing with a 73.5% completion rate, 281 yards, one touchdown, and a 107.6 QB rating. At this point, those numbers almost feel routine.

After scoring quickly on a six-play drive, the team couldn’t replicate that explosiveness and they saw how the Patriots quickly turned the game around.

Star players always play with a chip on their shoulders, but the Bucs are playing with third-string weapons in some areas right now. Also, star players are stars for a reason, they are difference makers.

Running back Bucky Irving is the key piece the Bucs are missing the most. Backup Rachaad White was good a coulpe of years ago and still is a solid RB2 on a team. However, as RB1, his 3.7 yards per attempt is just not good enough. Irving, for instance, is a career 4.9 yards per attempt back. Without being able to establish the run game, the offense turns much more predictable.

<h2>What’s next for the Bucs?</h2>



Tampa Bay’s next two games are tough. First, the Bucs must visit <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/josh-allen" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Josh Allen</a> and the Buffalo Bills. Then, they visit the Los Angeles Rams, who are arguably the best team in the NFC right now.



Both of those offenses have plenty of firepower and both teams have elite quarterbacks. Therefore, if the Bucs don’t play with killer instinct, it will be a deja-vu experience for the team.
