The Indiana Fever are set to face the Washington Mystics tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, but they will do so without two of their key players. Guards Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham have been officially ruled out for the match.
In the team’s recent injury report, both Clark and Cunningham were listed as unavailable for the matchup. However, there’s a glimmer of positive news as veteran guard Sydney Colson, previously dealing with a left leg injury, is not on the report, suggesting she may be ready to play.
To address their depleted roster, the Fever signed Aari McDonald on Monday under a hardship contract. McDonald, a 5-foot-6 guard and the No. 3 pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft, has played with Atlanta Dream and Los Angeles Sparks.
The Fever’s performance has been inconsistent this season, currently holding a 2-4 record. Their struggles have been magnified by the absence of star Clark, who suffered a strain in her left quad last Monday. She has an anticipated recovery time of at least two weeks.

Cunningham, who stepped in as a point guard in Clark’s absence, aggravated a lingering right ankle injury. She had already missed the opening games of the season with the same issue.

Fever coach Stephanie White sees an ‘opportunity’ in Caitlin Clark’s injury
White says the team has to adapt
The Fever enter tonight’s game on a three-game losing streak, including losses in both games so far that Clark missed. “I think any time that you’re hit with adversity, it gives you an opportunity to grow through it,” White said Monday.
“I’d rather be hit with this now in May, allow us to grow through it from not just an execution standpoint, but a toughness standpoint, mental toughness as well as physical toughness standpoint, and be better from it,” the coach added.
