A stellar season from Shedeur Sanders paved the way for his jump to the NFL, meaning the Colorado Buffaloes will now have to start a new journey with a new quarterback. Deion Sanders, the seasoned coach, has confidence in the talent at his disposal and is ready to make a big impact in the upcoming NCAAF season.
The chosen one to replace the newly minted Cleveland Browns player is Kaidon Salter, who joined via the Transfer Portal from Liberty Flames. His strength and ability to read the game have everyone in Boulder excited, especially Coach Prime.
“Kaidon is a guy with multiple talents,” Sanders said on the Colorado 2025 Fall Sports Media Day. “He can throw the football. He can run the heck out of the football. Sometimes in practice, you don’t get a chance to see how good he is because when you run the quarterback, you know we can’t hit him.
“But, you can see the burst, the speed, the knowledge of reading the defenses, and then he pulls it and keeps it. The kid is going to cause havoc. I’m just telling you.”
Salter accumulated a total of 5,887 passing yards, 2,063 rushing yards, and 77 touchdowns throughout his career. His standout performance came in the 2023 season, where he threw for 2,876 yards and 32 touchdowns, with just six interceptions.
The differences with Shedeur
It’s clear that replacing Shedeur Sanders will be a tough task, along with his on-field abilities. This is something Buffaloes‘ HC fully understands and made clear to the media, stating that the style of play his team will display on the field will not be the same as what was seen in the past.
“It’s going to be a totally different type of offense, kind of which from what you’ve seen us do in the past, because we had a guy that could spin it tremendously,” Sanders said. “But don’t underestimate his throwing ability.
“We just want him to complete every darn pass he throws in practice and get in a habit of completions, completions, completions, because we know he can run. But, when he gets that second part down, it’s going to be a problem, a tremendous problem for all defenses.”
A new beginning in Boulder
With the primary goal of becoming a contender in the Big 12 and gradually solidifying their aspirations of reaching the Playoffs, here are the first matchups they will face in a new College Football season:
