Juan Soto had been mired in a rough stretch with the New York Mets, drawing criticism as his struggles at the plate continued. But things may finally be turning around. Soto has homered in back-to-back games and appears to be finding his rhythm.
“I’ve felt good since day one, it’s just the results haven’t been there,” Soto said, referencing the tough stretch that even he acknowledged recently, saying, “I know I’ve been struggling.”
Now, with those two homers coming in consecutive wins against the Rockies, Soto’s tone is more hopeful. “Finally I’m getting some balls landing, finding some holes, some gaps. We’ve just got to keep working on it,” he said after lifting his batting average to .233.
What Soto has contributed lately
Soto didn’t just go deep in Games 2 and 3 of the series against Colorado — he looked far more comfortable at the plate. Over those two MLB games, he went 2-for-5 with 4 runs scored, 2 walks, and zero strikeouts, good for a .400 batting average in that stretch.
The mini-breakout came on the heels of a rough four-game stretch in which Soto went just 2-for-14 (.143). Still, the turnaround caught the attention of teammates, including Pete Alonso, who said, “I think he’s just in a really good place because he’s owning his approach.”

The road ahead won’t get easier. The Mets are set for a four-game series against the Dodgers, followed by another three-game set against the Rockies — this time on the road. Soto has faced the Dodgers plenty over his career, with 197 regular-season plate appearances resulting in 37 hits, 22 runs, and 7 home runs.
