Kyle Tucker will no longer be an option for the New York Mets, despite confirmation that the front office was prepared to do everything possible to sign him. According to the latest report, Tucker is set to become a Los Angeles Dodgers player in what is expected to be a highly debated deal in the coming days.

The news was first reported by Jeff Passan on X: “Star outfielder Kyle Tucker and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a free agent contract, sources tell ESPN.” The report represents one of the most significant blows the Mets have taken this offseason.

Earlier reports indicated that the Mets had made Tucker a four-year offer, a move many expected, but it appears Tucker was not interested. The star outfielder had also been strongly linked to Toronto, with Passan previously noting on Sportsnet that “the Blue Jays have really been the only team that has shown the willingness to go as deep as 10 years.”

A massive deal for Tucker in Los Angeles

Passan provided further details on Tucker’s contract with the Dodgers, noting that, like the Mets, Los Angeles offered a four-year deal worth a total of $60 million per year, an enormous figure. Had he signed with the Mets, Tucker’s salary would have been nearly identical to Juan Soto’s, who is set to earn $61.8 million in 2026.

“Kyle Tucker’s four-year, $240 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers includes opt-outs after the second and third seasons, sources tell ESPN. An enormous windfall for the best free agent available. And the champs get even better,” Passan wrote on X.

MLB insider Robert Murray was also part of the reporting and recently weighed in on the ongoing drama involving the New York Yankees and Cody Bellinger, a situation that could offer a glimpse into how things may ultimately unfold for New York’s other major baseball team as it continues to battle through the offseason market.
