The Miami Heat are determined to build a stronger roster for the upcoming season after a disappointing 37–45 finish that exposed key weaknesses. To help turn things around, the team may be closing in on veteran reinforcements to support Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, according to a new report.
In a recent article from The Stein Line, it was reported that the Heat are actively pursuing the possibility of signing Damian Lillard as one of the veterans they hope to add for next season. Bradley Beal is also on their radar.
“The Heat, meanwhile, have serious interest in signing Lillard as well as exploring the prospect of adding a bought-out Beal,” the report stated — suggesting both veterans are high on Miami’s list as the franchise seeks immediate help.
The Team Must Be Willing to Commit
Adding veteran help isn’t just about giving Adebayo and Herro more support — it could also require a serious organizational commitment. If Miami lands Lillard, the team would need to invest in his recovery, as he continues to work his way back from an Achilles injury.
“Yet it’s fair to wonder why Lillard would be looking to sign quickly with any team unless he’s searching for organizational support as he rehabs from his own Achilles tear,” the report noted.
“Our good friend Chris Haynes reported Thursday evening that Lillard is indeed in no rush to make any decision about his future despite receiving plenty of interest from the Heat and several other teams.”
Who Has the Edge in Experience?
Both Beal and Lillard have 13 seasons under their belt, but Lillard holds the edge in postseason experience. He’s played in the playoffs for 10 of those years, most recently in a short 3-game stint, and holds a playoff scoring average of 25.2 points per game — significantly higher than Beal’s 22.9 across 49 playoff appearances.
