Kevin Durant refuses to comment on Kyrie Irving's situation

Everybody around the NBA expected Kyrie Irving to make the headlines for the wrong reasons at any point of the season. However, not even his biggest hater thought that it would only take a handful of games into the campaign.

Irving was a last-minute scratch when the Brooklyn Nets faced the Philadelphia 76ers on January 7. When asked about why he didn’t report to the team or even give any kind of heads-up, he said that he just didn’t want to play.

Kyrie didn’t travel with the team to Memphis for their game against the Grizzlies, and he wasn’t back with them either when they hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder last night, citing ‘personal reasons’ for his absence.

Some people think that Irving doesn’t want to hoop in the wake of the recent events in the Capitol. Yet, most insiders believe that once again, he’s just so full of himself and trying to make a statement that no one actually understands.

Kevin Durant Says He Won’t Speak For Kyrie Irving

So, now that the Brooklyn Nets have dropped yet another game despite entering the season as one of the teams to beat in the Eastern Conference, Kevin Durant didn’t want to fuel the fire and stated that he won’t speak for his friend and teammate:

“I won’t speak on Kyrie. I’ll let him do that for himself. I’m sure you guys will see him soon whenever he comes back. We support him 100 percent and pray for the best,” Durant told the media.

Kyrie Irving is making$34,122,650 this season to play basketball or at least explain why he’s unable to do so. He missed most of last season with multiple injuries and the Nets are currently 5-6 after making a$136,490,600 investment on him.

Irving signed a 4-year deal with the franchise and is yet to pay back that kind of confidence. The team has a rookie coach and two stars that have only played together a handful of games, and there’s no chance that they’ll fulfill their potential unless he puts his ego aside and actually shows up.
