Patrick Mahomes has full confidence in head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach to pick the right players for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2025 NFL Draft, following a season that ended with a blowout loss on the biggest stage.

Speaking to reporters via Zoom on Wednesday, Mahomes made it clear that he’s not telling the Chiefs who they should draft. Instead, the quarterback is letting Reid and Veach handle it (via Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports):

“Patrick Mahomes says he talks to Brett Veach a ton about the guys he’s looking at in the NFL Draft. He says he lets Brett Veach and Andy Reid make the decisions: ‘They’re going to go out and pick the guys that keep us Super Bowl contenders.'”

The Chiefs’ picks in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Chiefs own eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. While only the Philadelphia Eagles—who beat them in Super Bowl LIX—will select after Kansas City in the first round, the team also hold a second-round selection, two third-rounders, a fourth-rounder, and three seventh-round picks.

Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs talks with head coach Andy Reid before the game against the Minnesota Vikings at Arrowhead Stadium on November 03, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Expect the team to add at running back, with Reid and the Chiefs reportedly reaching out Ohio State Buckeyes sensation TreVeyon Henderson as Jeremy Fowler of ESPN claims they’re doing a late research on the position.

In fact, Veach had already let Mahomes and Reid know that the Chiefs will not trade up but instead could trade back in the Draft, naming this year’s running back class as the deepest position in 2025.
