Aaron Rodgers has played with a plethora of players but there are some that learn from him in the process. One of those, who shared the locker room with A-Rod back in the Green Bay Packers, has recommended the Tennessee Titans to get one of two players to help no.1 overall pick, Cam Ward.

That teammate is Kurt Benkert, who is now dedicating to doing media and working as an NFL YouTuber. Benkert, who has gained fame for his prolific way of analyzing the game, spoke about Tennessee’s possible moves.

Give me DJ Chark as a flyer to the Titans,” Benkert said on The Sporting News. “He’s a guy who’s always had potential but hasn’t been healthy enough to stay on the field. Give him one more chance and see if Cam Ward can bring out the best in the former great LSU wide receiver. If they don’t go the Chark route, give me the Titans to snag Gabe Davis on the flyer route again. He can be another veteran presence, maybe have a resurgence.”

Cam Ward would always welcome some help

Let’s be clear on two things. First, neither D.J. Chark nor Gabe Davis will turn into prime Jerry Rice. Secondly, the Titans are not a team with high expectations this season. They are at the bottom and the only thing they need to focus on is in developing Cam Ward. That’s where veterans like Chark or Davis could be really helpful.

DJ Chark #9 of the Los Angeles Chargers runs after his catch during an OTA Offseason Workout at Hoag Performance Center on June 04, 2024 in Costa Mesa, California.

Chark played last year for the L.A. Chargers but only participated in seven games, as he battled a hip injury at the start of the season. Chark only managed 31 yards and 1 touchdown. Chark had a great two-year run in 2019 and 2020 when he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Then, injuries hampered what was supposed to be a big-time career. Chark excelled on highly-contested catches and deep routes.

Gabe Davis is also a deep-route threat, but his strength is his speed, not 50/50 passes. Davis is also a target for the Pittsburgh Steelers, so if Tennessee wants him, it needs to act fast. Davis played for Jacksonville last year, but only 10 games. He had 239 yards and 2 touchdowns. There’s something about Jacksonville, huh? Davis is now looking for a place to exploit all the potential he showed in Buffalo.

What are Cam Ward’s weapons?

Cam Ward is tasked to transform the Titans into a competitive franchise. While he is the key piece of the project, he needs people to help him produce. These are the weapons at Ward’s disposal:

  • Running Backs: Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears
  • Tight End: Chig Okonkwo
  • Wide Receivers:
    • Tyler Lockett
    • Calvin Ridley
    • Van Jefferson
    • Elic Ayomanor (rookie)
    • Chimere Dike (rookie)
