After a very promising start to his career in the Kansas City Chiefs that included Super Bowl wins, a former Patrick Mahomes teammate left the team. However, his first season as part of the Tennessee Titans was marked by injuries. Now that the team has Cam Ward as quarterback, a warning has been sent about what’s coming.
That player is cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. He was drafted by the Chiefs in 2020, and was a regular starter for them until 2023. In 2024, he was traded to the Titans. After injuries allowed him to play only 5 games, Sneed is coming back with a vengeance.
“Last year, my first year, didn’t go as planned, but, you know, it’s time to come out and show the world what God’s been instilling in me this entire year. I’m ready to get back on the field, that’s my life, that’s what I do for a living. I missed the whole year and have to remind everybody who L’Jarius Sneed is,” the former Chief said to NBC 6 news.
The Titans really need Sneed
The 2024 NFL season was not kind to the Titans, let’s just say that. The offense wasn’t good at all and frankly, they were known as the “What is Will Levis gonna do now?” offense more than a dangerous attacking unit.
However, the defense was a bright spot. They were the second-best in total yards allowed and second-best passing defense. They were down in most games, so teams used to run more against them.
Assuming the offense takes a leap with Cam Ward, the defense will have to continue to have a good level. If Sneed can become that lockdown corner, the team will be massively improved.
The Titans don’t have high expectations
While the Titans are not in the Super Bowl contenders tier, they do want to start building towards that. While nobody expects them to go the playoffs, if Tennessee can even fight for a spot to be there, it will be considered a successful season.
Also, they need to establish whether Brian Callahan is their head coach for the future or not. Cam Ward brings some hype into his rookie season as well. It’s a season to start shaping up the next few years for the franchise.
