If youtold us one year ago that Jadeveon Clowney was still going to be a free agent six days before the start of the 2020 NFL season, we’d never believe you. Fast-forwardtwelve months and here we are.

The former 1st-overall pickof the NFL Draft didn’t extend his contract after being traded to the Seattle Seahawks and is yet to sign with any team despite interest from multiple parties, including the Baltimore Ravens, who reportedly lead the race for his services.

Clowney is reportedly looking for a deal worthy of around $20 million per year, which is far more than what the Seahawks could offer him. And,judgingby how the market has moved recently, it’s unlikely that he gets that kind of money at this point in the year.

Jacksonville Jaguars To Make Last-Second Bid For Jadeveon Clowney

However, Dianna Russini of ESPNrecently reported that now that the Seahawks are most likely out of the race to bring back Clowney, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be next in line waiting to make a last-second bid he cannot refuse.

In fact, coach Doug Marrone had already addressed the possiblity of adding yet another piece to their already impressive defensive core, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them interested in Clowney:

“I think that there’s opportunities from now throughout the start of the season where you can acquire players, whether it’s the other players’ positions that are loaded on some teams,” Marrone said.

Clowney had stated in the past that his top priority was taking his talents to a team where he could compete for a Super Bowl ring, so signing with the Jaguars wouldn’t exactly be a step in the right direction.

But they do have the kind of money he’s looking forand a defensive front that already features Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson, so the former South Carolina standout has got a decision to make.
