Aaron Rodgers explained his reasons for signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers instead of retiring. During an interview with Pat McAfee, the quarterback reiterated that it’s all about his love for the game, as he has nothing left to prove to anyone.

“I didn’t need this. I didn’t need it at all. I don’t feel the need to prove anything to anybody. I don’t have any chip on my shoulder that I need to hold on to. I don’t want the attention. I know that’s a narrative out there. When this is all done, you won’t see me. I won’t be in the public.”

The veteran acknowledged that he wants to say goodbye while enjoying football, and what better environment to do that than alongside Mike Tomlin and a historic franchise like the Steelers. If that brings an opportunity to compete for the Super Bowl, Aaron isn’t chasing it to silence his critics. It’s simply about being happy on the field.

Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?

Aaron Rodgers hasn’t retired from football yet, but in that conversation with McAfee, he admitted that this will be his final year as a professional. For that reason, he warned that people won’t see him on television or social media when his career is over, as he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight.

“I don’t want to live a public life. That’s why it’s son strange what’s going on right now with my private life because I don’t want to live a life in the public eye. When this is done, I’m done.”
