The Super Bowl LIX loss was tough, but the Kansas City Chiefs have reasons for optimism ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Recently, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce received an encouraging announcement from one of the team’s stars.

On top of that, the new players on the team are joining the Chiefs with a winning mentality. Defensive end Janarius Robinson, for instance, has already promised to do whatever it takes to help Kansas City succeed.

Speaking to the media for the first time since joining the Chiefs this offseason, the 25-year-old thanked the organization for trusting in him, vowing to be a great fit for Reid‘s team.

First, I just want to give a special thanks to (Chiefs Chairman and CEO) Mr. (Clark) Hunt, (Chiefs General Manager) Brett Veach, and then (Head) Coach Andy Reid for giving me this wonderful opportunity here at the Chiefs,” Robinson said, via Chiefs Wire.

It’s just about coming here, willing to work, put in the time, and necessary things to put myself in the best position to reach the potential and be the best player that I can be, and go out there and show what I can do.

Janarius Robinson is excited to play with Mahomes and Kelce

A fourth-round pick out of Florida State in the 2021 NFL Draft, Robinson started his pro career with the Minnesota Vikings before spending a short stint with the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad.

He was a division rival of the Chiefs until not long ago, as he spent the last two seasons in the AFC West with the Las Vegas Raiders. Now, he’s looking forward to being on the same side as Mahomes and Kelce.

“Very explosive offense. Great quarterback. It’ll be good to not have to chase (Patrick Mahomes) and Travis Kelce around,” Robinson said of this new chapter in his career, via Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports.

In addition, the defensive end says he’s ready to bring a positive vibe to the locker room: “Just come in willing to learn and willing to build friendships, and relationships with people within the building and within the team, and I think that’s what really makes the transition very easy.”

Robinson believes he’ll settle in perfectly on Reid’s Chiefs

Robinson didn’t make his NFL debut until 2023, making six games appearances for the Raiders before increasing his playing time to 10 games (one start) in 2024. Last year, he recorded five tackles, half a sack, and two quarterback hits in 104 total defensive snaps.

While he may not boast too much experience, the player is confident that his profile will fit perfectly on Reid’s team due to Steve Spagnuolo’s defensive scheme: “Just over their career and over the years of them being coaches, just seeing how the defense play in the scheme that they’re in, I feel like I’m a perfect fit for that.

So that’s ultimately one of the reasons why I decided to come to the Chiefs, to just come out here and just play hard and do what I need to do and play within the defense to put myself in the best position at this point in my career.”

Besides, Robinson made it clear that he’s healthy and ready to go this offseason: “I’m 100% right now. I feel good. Body feels good. Healed up from, you know, nicks and bruises or whatever the case may be. I’m just ready to go to Kansas City and just show what I can do and, you know, put it all together and be the player that I can be.”
