On Wednesday night, news spread that the Browns were considering making a trade offer for Cousins for next season, with the goal of securing a starting quarterback to replace the injured Deshaun Watson.

The possibility of signing Cousins in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round draft pick gains traction after the 36-year-old quarterback lost the starting job to Michael Penix Jr. However, his four-year, $180 million contract and no-trade clause mean that if the deal progresses, negotiations would take place after the 2025 NFL Draft. The deal between Krieg and the Falcons came after the player visited Atlanta’s offices. According to Garafolo, he had scheduled visits with other teams, but he didn’t need to continue his tour and finalized the deal with the first team that welcomed him to play there next season.
