The offseason is pushing the Buffalo Bills to make roster changes if they want to improve on the 2024 NFL season, when they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC divisional final. MVP Josh Allen is expected to lead a revamped team under head coach Sean McDermott.

Among the Bills‘ latest moves is the return of cornerback Tre’Davious White, who agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6.8 million. Allen will be reunited with an old teammate who was drafted by Buffalo in 2017. Along the same lines, the organization parted ways with two other names.

With the draft just a week away, all indications are that the Bills could be preparing to make a big acquisition. Judging by the roster cleanup, McDermott‘s team is planning on bringing in some new faces for next season.

Two players released by the Bills

The two players who were released and will no longer play in Buffalo are defensive tackle Branson Deen and tight end Armani Rogers, according to NBC Sports. Deen is the only one of the two to have taken the field for the McDermott’s Bills, doing so last year for the Week 5 game against the Houston Texans.

Head coach Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills looks on during warms up prior to playing the Denver Broncos during the AFC Wild Card Playoffs at Highmark Stadium on January 12, 2025 in Orchard Park, New York.

Rogers has been placed on waivers due to a non-sport related injury. This decision by the Buffalo organization makes room for next week’s draft, as well as adjusting the roster in preparation for possible acquisitions.

Bills prepare for 2025 NFL season

Josh Allen’s contract extension appears to be the biggest accomplishment for the Bills this offseason. The $330 million deal for Buffalo’s star quarterback provides stability and sets the foundation to build a mix of experience and youth that could help McDermott’s team make a deep run in the league.
