Tom Brady took the reins of the Las Vegas Raiders as a minority owner, and his role is predominant for the 2025 NFL season. The AFC West team left behind the cycle of Antonio Pierce and began a new phase with Pete Carroll as head coach, reunited with quarterback Geno Smith, who arrived in the offseason.
Sharing an organization with Brady is not something that goes unnoticed by any Raiders player, as he is considered the greatest player of all time. In that vein, Smith did not miss the opportunity to comment on having contact with the New England Patriots legend, who is now a major executive.
“I got a chance to talk to him, went to his home and spent about an hour and just talked ball with him and talked life. You understand why he is who he is immediately. He takes everything extremely seriously, he’s a diligent worker and he believes in hard work. I think we align that way. I want to be a sponge. I want to soak up as much knowledge as I can from him. I want to learn as much as I can from him, the greatest quarterback to play the game,” Smith said about Brady, according to NBC Sports.
“It’s Tom Brady. It’s a guy that I’ve idolized and looked up to, and I believe he does things the right way, and I think that’s something I wanted to take from just watching his game from afar,” Smith also explained, demonstrating his admiration for Raiders‘ minority owner.
Smith also spoke about head coach Pete Carroll
Smith not only made headlines with his comments about his time with the Raiders alongside Brady, but he also spoke about head coach Pete Carroll, who will now lead him in Las Vegas after previously coaching him with the Seahawks. “I told him I’d run through a wall for him, and he knows that. I’d do the same for my teammates and for this organization. Coach Carroll is a big part of my story,” Smith said during his press conference as a new Raiders player.
Caroll sent a message to Smith
“He’s going to bring us great stability and belief in the kinds of things that we stand for. His habits are so, so stellar; the way he works, the way he looks at the game, the way he looks at the challenges of it all is exactly in line with the way we think. So, he’ll represent us in magnificent fashion,” Carroll said of Smith via NFL.com.
