Travis Kelce spoke about several important topics for the Chiefs during training camp. One of them was what has surprised him the most about Patrick Mahomes, who is seeking redemption after losing the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I mean, kind of being away this offseason and coming back into training camp, it’s just how fast his mind is moving. It seems like he’s always a step ahead. His arm is alive right now. It’s fun to see him kind of know the play, know where he’s going before the snap happens and, on top of that, just being a leader. He’s our biggest fearless competitor. He’s really leading this team right now. Working hard and getting it right.”
The Kansas City Chiefs are trying to keep their dynasty alive in what could be Kelce’s final year in the NFL. That’s why the legendary tight end showed up to training camp in spectacular shape.
Is Travis Kelce retiring?
No. Travis Kelce is not retiring from football. The veteran is entering the final year of his contract and will evaluate his future with the Kansas City Chiefs after the 2025 season. For now, all his focus is on training camp as he works to help build the foundation for success.
“I’m trying to win Super Bowls, man. It’s the only way you get there. I think it starts in the offseason. It really signifies coming together. The chemistry, the culture that you need to have to keep getting better every single day and every single week throughout the year. Hopefully, playing your best football by December, January, and February.”
Additionally, Kelce was asked if the Super Bowl loss against the Eagles is still on his mind. “No, man. I’ve thrown that thing in the trash. I’ve moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year and the offseason.”
