The Kansas City Chiefs have been the most dominating team in the NFL over the past two years or so. Led by superstar Patrick Mahomes, it seems like they’re always in control of every game and should never be counted out. That’s why they were favored by 3 points entering Super Bowl LV vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Then again, as you may know by now, they were vastly outplayed by Tom Brady’s team en route to a 31-9 loss that not even the most pessimistic fan ever saw coming.

Tampa Bay’s defensive plan was flawless. They double-teamed Travis Kelce and blitzed with just 3 or 4 players to prevent Mahomes from finding his wide receivers. He had a lot of time to work outside of the pocket but not anyone to throw the ball to.

Impressively, they limited the reigning Super Bowl MVP to just 270 yards with 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, completing just 26 of 49 passes. Moreover, most of those yards and completions came with the gay already way out of hand.

Mahomes added 5 rushes for 33 yards but couldn’t get anything on the ground either, and the frustration was evident after every single play. In reality, there wasn’t anything else he could do to beat them.

Patrick Mahomes SaysThe Buccaneers Dominated The Chiefs

That’s why Mahomes had no choice but to tip his hat off to the Buccaneers after such an impressive performance:

They beat us pretty good, the worst I think I’ve been beaten in a long time. They took away our deep stuff. They took away the sidelines and they did a good job of rallying to the football and making tackles. We weren’t executing early, had a few miscues. Guys weren’t on the same page. Credit to them. They played a heck of a game defensively and offensively to beat us, he said.

Mahomes Shares Emotional Message With The Fans

As you’d expect, Patrick didn’t want to talk much after his season came to such a disappointing ending. Still, he took the time to address his fanbase and promise them they will be back to that stage:

“Thank you #ChiefsKingdom for all the support. Wasn’t the way we wanted it to end, but we will be back!” Mahomes tweeted.

It was a tough game for Pat but he’s just 25 years old. There will be plenty of more opportunities for him to get back to the Super Bowl and pursue Tom Brady’s seven rings (and counting) record.
