Patrick Mahomes is ready to turn the page after a tough ending to the 2024 NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is heading into the new campaign in high spirits, with complete confidence in his teammates.
The 2x NFL MVP addressed the media via Zoom on Wednesday, showing his excitement for the return of key weapons such as Rashee Rice and Marquise “Hollywood” Browns. With these kinds of players back, Mahomes believes the rest of the league should fear the Chiefs’ offense.
“Getting the guys back healthy as far as Rashee (Rice) and Hollywood (Brown) fully healthy; Xavier (Worthy) in year two, I think the offense has a chance to be really, really good,” Mahomes said, via Sports Illustrated. “I’m excited to have these guys again. We’ve had a lot of turnovers in the receiving room and it seems like the core group will be back in its entirety.”
Mahomes believes Hollywood Brown will play a big role for Chiefs
While Mahomes gave head coach Andy Reid an encouraging update on Rice, the quarterback is also looking forward to having Brown healthy again, after missing the wideout for much of the 2024 NFL season.
“Y’all saw it in training camp, how special of a football player he is. He did everything the right way. He was in the building early, was in the building late, was teaching other guys, and for him to get injured in kind of a freak deal there in the first play of the pre-season, it stung,” Mahomes said of Brown.
Brown was one of, if not the Chiefs‘ biggest free agency acquisition last year but the wideout suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation in the first game of preseason. Even though Brown managed to return in Week 16, it didn’t give him enough time to make an impact on Mahomes’ offense. Still, the quarterback believes 2025 will be much better for the 27-year-old.

“I was happy to have him back at the end of the season, and for him to get back within the offense. I think now, with him hopefully having a offseason and training camp and staying healthy and continuing to grind through, his role will expand even more,” Mahomes added.” You can see when he gets the ball in his hands, he makes that offense go.”
