The best players of the Major League Soccer and the Liga MX will be facing each other in the long-awaited 2021 MLS All-Star Game, which will be played on August 25 at the Banc of California Stadium. However, the Liga MX team won’t have the striker Andre Pierre Gignac, as it was originally announced.
Both teams have to change their rosters as some players suffered injuries and won’t be in the match. For the MLS team, LAFC Carlos Vela and LA Galaxy Chicharito Hernandez pulled out of the game due to physical problems. Tajon Buchanan and Carles Gil also withdrew from the match.
While, for the Liga MX team, coach Juan Reynoso Guzman had to substitute some players, including Frenchman Pierre Gignac, who has scored three goals so far in the Liga MX. Here, check out why Gignac won’t be playing.
2021 MLS All-Star Game: Why isn’t Andre Pierre Gignac playing?
Gignac won’t be playing in the 2021 MLS All-Star Game due to a small fracture in his right fibula, so he will be out for two or three weeks. The forward announced his injury through his social media, saying that he expects to recover for the match against Leon.
The Tigres UANL striker will be replaced by the footballer from Pachuca, Nicolás Ibáñez, as informed by the Liga MX on Twitter. Ibañez scored 13 goals in the 2020-2021 season with Atlético de San Luis.
The other players out of the All-Star Game areJesús Corona, Fernando Navarro, Luis Montes and Guido Pizarro,all due to injuries. Their substitutes are:Nahuel Guzman, Jorge Sanchez, Orbelín Pineda and Javier Salas.
