Contrary to what most people thought, Duke Blue Devils head coach Jon Scheyer didn’t get the nod as the ACC Coach of the Year. Instead, Louisville’s Pat Kelsey took the award home.
That’s why Hugh Graine of FanSided believes the Blue Devils head coach was done wrong by voters. The team finished the season 28-3 and 19-1 in ACC play, so he did more than enough merits.
With that in mind, Graine pointed out how, even though the Blue Devils had Cooper Flagg and high expectations, Scheyer still somehow managed to exceed them.

“Despite heavy preseason expectations for the Duke basketball program where the team was ranked #7 in the preseason AP Poll and brought in the #1 ranked recruiting class in the country, Scheyer has somehow exceeded expectations, which really only could’ve been done if Duke was in the conversation for the best team in the country,” wrote Straine.

However, the Blue Devils are aiming for a bigger prize right now, so coach Scheyer — who might still get the nod as the overall Coach of the Year — may not lose any sleep over this.
