The 2025 NCAA season hasn’t gotten underway, but Arch Manning is already making waves across the country. The Texas Longhorns‘ quarterback is the talk of the town, and even NFL owners have taken notice of the young phenom in Texas. Included Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, who has recently drafted both Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel.
A new star might be growing from the dry soil in Austin. Manning is set to take over the huddle at the University of Texas, and all eyes are on him. The heir to the Manning family is expected to put on a show during the 2025 college football campaign, and it’s not exclusive to the Eyes of Texas. Instead, everybody in the nation might have a reserved seat to the spectacle.
As for the Longhorns, they only care about the sophomore signal-caller to lead them to a national championship. It’d be the school’s first in 20 years, and fans have had enough of the recent mishaps in the decisive stages. This time around, the Horns seem better off than any other program to struck gold, but they must prove it on the gridiron every Saturday.
While the NCAA season alone is enough to excite fans in The Forty Acres, the NFL is already watching closely as Manning continues to develop. Still, no one wants to get too far ahead of themselves. On that note, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam had a firm message regarding the young star rising in The Lone Star State.

“You’re in the business and you get paid by how many hits you get,” Haslam admitted, per NBC Sports. “I think if you know the Manning family, I would bet — and I don’t know Arch at all — I bet he stays in college two [more] years. I don’t even think that’s worth discussing.”

There goes any mock draft
Manning’s decision once the 2025 NCAA season comes to an end is one that makes for an ever-lasting conversation in college football. It’s still unclear whether the third-year player will enter the NFL Draft or return to Austin in 2026.
What is clear, though, is that the Browns could very well be among the teams most interested in acquiring a quarterback next year. There’s currently no shortage of QB options in The Land, but each of them has yet to prove they deserve to hold the starting job.

Browns’ QB room
Cleveland currently boasts a four-headed monster in the quarterback room: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel are all battling for the starting job ahead of the NFL season in September. Flacco is by far the most experienced option—but perhaps the Browns are eyeing a fresh start.

Pickett, in that sense, could offer a balanced blend of experience and poise, unlikely to be rattled by the moment. Sanders, on the other hand, promises fireworks with his fearless style of play, though that might come at the cost of errors the Browns would rather avoid.
