Atlanta Braves resign Charlie Morton to a big salary

The 37-year-old right-hander signed to an extension with the Atlanta Braves for a huge salary hike.

Charlie Morton is a happy man as he and the Atlanta Braves have signed an extension to his current deal that will keep him in Atlanta for next year and a club option additional year in 2023. Morton is well deserving of the extension considering the season he has had with the Braves in the MLB.

Morton’s 2021 record stands at 13-5 with a 3.47 ERA, in 28 starts for the first place Braves. At the moment Morton leads the Braves in wins, strikeouts, and ERA, and his fastball is the best it ever has been.

Morton signed with the Atlanta Braves in November of last year and earned an estimated $15 million this season. Now with his contract extension here is Charlie Morton’s salary come next season with the Atlanta Braves.

Charlie Morton signs $20 million contact with Atlanta Braves

Charlie Morton is set to earn $20 million in salary following this season, a $5 million salary increase for the former Tampa Bay Rays pitcher. Morton is currently in his second stint with the Atlanta Braves after he began his career with them in 2008.

Morton has an overall record of 106-94 and over 1,400 career strikeouts, he was atwo-time all-star in 2018 and 2019, and won the World Series with the Houston Astros in 2017. The team has an option year for Morton at $20 million in 2023.
