The Boston Red Sox have a history of turning up with egg on their face, although in recent years the tide has turned, last night against the Houston Astros in Game 4 of the ALCS a bit of the old Sox came back to haunt them as the team gave up the opportunity to go up 3-1 in the series.

Game 4 all came down to the ninth inning when Houston scored seven runs on 2 outs. For the Red Sox their hitting percentage dropped off big time, only hitting the ball 5 times in Game 4.

The ALCS has been defined by lopsided scores and tonight the Sox have the opportunity to take a 3-2 series advantage in their last game at home in the series. Here is what Alex Cora had to say about last night’s meltdown in the ninth.

Alex Cora stated after the game: “There’s not much to say in that clubhouse… We know where we’re at. They have a good team. We were one pitch away from ending that [ninth] inning and it didn’t happen, and then they scored seven. Just like every day, you win, you turn the page. You lose, you turn the page and be ready.”

Tonight Chris Sale takes the mound for the Red Sox, while the Astros counter with lefty Framber Valdez. Houston has had a good percentage of hits against left handers all season. Trying to not give up many runs will be key for both sides to stay in the fight in Game 5 at Fenway.
