Tigers’ Tarik Skubal sidelined multiple weeks; Detroit’s rotation plan shifts after injury blow

The Detroit Tigers were dealt a devastating blow this week with the news that ace Tarik Skubal is expected to miss multiple weeks. The left-hander is set to undergo surgery, forcing the Tigers to pivot and stabilize a rotation suddenly missing its biggest arm.

With Skubal sidelined, Detroit is rolling out a multi-man contingency plan to bridge the gap. Tyler Holton is slated to serve as the “opener” for Monday’s clash against the Boston Red Sox, while Keider Montero is expected to see an increased workload in a more permanent rotation role alongside the recently recalled Ty Madden.
