Will Warren has shown flashes of his true potential on the mound in what has been his most important season with the New York Yankees. Despite a couple of rough outings, things are starting to click for the young pitcher, who recently demonstrated his arm strength by establishing a career-best with a fastball.
The Yankees recently earned a much-needed win against the Twins, with Warren being key to a strong start and keeping the opposition in check. In his 25th start of the season, one of his pitches stood out from the rest for its incredible velocity.
Warren currently holds a 4.34 ERA this season, and with a recent 97.1 MPH pitch against the Twins, he set a new career high, according to a report from Ryan Garcia: āā¦threw his hardest pitch of his Major League career on that sinker.ā
One of Warrenās Best Games
The game against the Twins wasnāt just when he threw the fastest pitch of his MLB career ā it was also his second-longest outing of the season. Warren went 6.2 innings, just shy of his season-high 7.1 innings pitched against the Aās back in May.
For just his second season with the Yankees, things are going fairly well. His 4.34 ERA ranks fourth among all Yankees starting pitchers, and heās also fourth in win-loss percentage at .583. At the moment, he leads the team in starts this season, edging out Max Fried by one.
When it comes to earned runs, Warren has allowed the most on the team with 59. He also ranks second in hits allowed with 113 and second in walks with 54 ā two fewer than Carlos Rodón.
