The Brooklyn Nets not only have trouble on the court but off it, too. They have been living some complex times recently this NBA season, especially with their non-existent defense and the fact that they can’t guard anybody with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden.
They were expected to experience an improvement on the offensive end of the ball but their defense has dropped, too, creating a lot of issues for them in the process. It’s been reported that they’re interested in a big man to address those problems but nothing is certain now.
Moreover, they have more things to be worried about. Two former employees have accused the team of “racial bias” in recent hours after they didn’t receive a clear answer on why they were getting fired.
Brooklyn Nets accused of “racial bias”
These people released a statement on Instagram where they accuse the team of terminating their contract due to “racial bias”. They claimed they saw several inconsistencies with their firings and now will try to aware more people of the things that are allegedly happening within the organization.
One spokesperson of the Nets talked about the situation and they made it clear it had nothing to do with their race or anything like that. The team simply didn’t renew their contract and that was it.
“The decision on whether or not to rehire seasonal part-time employees is an organizational matter that is carefully and thoughtfully evaluated,” the spokesperson said in a statement, via Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News. “We are entirely comfortable with our decision not to rehire these two individuals.”
This situation doesn’t look good for the Nets. Back in the day, some people criticized them for hiring Steve Nash, an inexperienced white man as their new head coach. Well, this might bring that criticism back to the team, especially now that they’re struggling to find their touch in the league.
