Despite lingering concerns about their physical durability, the Golden State Warriors silenced critics with a strong performance in Game 1. Although they dropped Game 2 against Minnesota Timberwolves, fan optimism remains high. Even with Stephen Curry nursing an injury, the offense stepped up. Jonathan Kuminga delivered a standout performance that energized the team. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler struggled physically during the game. Afterwards, he provided a brief and telling update on his condition.
During the postgame press conference following Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater asked Jimmy Butler if he was still dealing with physical issues stemming from a hard fall against the Houston Rockets. Butler’s response was brief but telling: “For sure.” Even with the lingering discomfort, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr continues to play Butler for over 30 minutes per game. This decision has reignited criticism regarding his limited use of the bench.
Fans have voiced concern that the heavy workload could lead Butler to another major injury, such as happened to Stephen Curry. Because of the growing scrutiny, Kerr made a visible change in the team’s recent matchup against the Timberwolves. He gave playing time to every available player on the roster. However, the team failed to rise to the occasion and struggled to deliver a solid performance.
Still, Butler continues to rise to the occasion and delivers strong performances in every postseason game. In the last two matchups, he has scored 17 points or more. He also contributes on defense and playmaking, becoming a key piece in Kerr’s system. His impressive talent has guided the Warriors through the NBA playoffs, especially after Curry’s absence.

Game after game, Butler finishes as the team’s second-leading scorer. Because of this shift, fans are remembering his ‘Playoff Jimmy’ nickname. Considering the later, he spoke about it during a press conference.
“I don’t have a burden or expectation. I don’t. I play basketball the right way. I will continue playing basketball the right way. When the time comes where, your people that are saying [that] I’m supposed to score 40 or 43, whatever the case may be, I’m capable of it, I can do it. But I love making sure my guys are comfortable, passing the ball to them, taking the right shots at the right time,” stated Jimmy Butler.
