Kevin Durant is officially no longer a member of the Phoenix Suns after being traded to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster deal that caught many by surprise. Before leaving, he shared a message thanking everyone and calling the NBA one big family.
Durant’s message regarding his time with the Suns reveals he enjoyed playing in Arizona. He conveyed this sentiment in part of his statement, saying, “I appreciate all the quick interactions with everybody from support staff to teammates distant cousins, it’s all a family that I’m grateful to be apart of, no matter what.”
The Suns had Durant on their roster for a total of 2.5 seasons. During that time, he primarily contributed by helping the team reach the playoffs twice, in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. His tenure was not without success, and he even sent a message of affection to the place he played, stating, “Much love to Arizona,” in his farewell.
Durant’s Message Generates Reactions
After Kevin Durant posted his lengthy message on X, it was inevitable that it would generate reactions from all sorts of people, including some who pointed out writing errors in his statement. Even fans of his new team, the Rockets, reacted, to whom he referred by saying he was “anxious” to play there.

“Since your day is in Austin, I’ve always wanted to see you in a rocket uniform! I can’t wait to see you and the rest of this Rockets team bring Houston another championship!” a fan from his new team wrote on X.
A Teammate for Durant in Houston?
It’s worth noting that less than a month ago, on June 22, Kevin Durant was asked about the possibility of Russell Westbrook joining the Rockets. Durant simply responded, “I don’t know about that,” he said with a laugh. “We just got one thing figured out today, we’ll get the rest figured out as well go. It’s still early.” For now, nothing is confirmed, as Westbrook remains a free agent.
