LeBron James had a terrific game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, going off against his former team, even dropping 21 points in the last quarter of the game. The King explained that he took things personally after one Cavs’ front office member taunted him and that was it for the player.
The 4x NBA champion outscored the Cavs, 21-19 in the 4th quarter of the game, finishing with a season-high 46 points to give his Los Angeles Lakers the 13th win of the season. It was a great night and he explained what inspired him besides that bad attitude.
After the game was over, James explained he channeled his inner Tom Brady in the win vs the Cavs, crediting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback for his success on the court and how he gave his all when the rest of the players are tired.
LeBron James says he was inspired by Tom Brady in win over Cavs
The 35-year-old used a curious analogy for his game, comparing it to going to your mom’s house and getting a freshly made meal, explaining he felt very comfortable playing in Cleveland again.
“Home cooking,” he started off. “You got an opportunity to see your mom and get a home-cooked meal. Saw my uncle. Felt good to be back in my haven, my rest haven, and that’s being home. And obviously, you get inspired watching the greats play.”
Moreover, he talked about Brady, one of those “greats” he mentioned before. Sunday afternoon was a very good time for TB12, who reached his 10th Super Bowl in his career, exactly the same number of Finals LeBron has under his belt.
“Seeing Brady, seeing the things he did with that team. That inspired me as well. But I just felt pretty good as I have the whole season. I’ve been getting better and better as each game goes on. Felt good from the beginning and just trying to keep it going,” he explained.
Game recognizes game and this is another proof of that. James gets inspired by the greats and Brady is one of them. They are two of the best ever in their respective sports and even at 43 (Brady) and 36 (LeBron), they keep making history in the NFL and NBA.
