Few days ago, the NBA was rocked as Kevin Durant was traded to the Houston Rockets. However, there is more to this trade that hadn’t been revealed. Now, Shams Charania reported that it was the first-ever trade with seven teams involved and we have all the terms now.
Of course, the teams doing most of the heavy lifting were the Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets. But, to made this possible, the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves all had to play a part on it. These are the terms:
- Suns get: Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, Koby Brea, Daeqwon Plowden, and a 2nd round.
- Rockets get: Kevin Durant, Clint Capela
- Nets get: 2 second-round picks
- Warriors get: Alex Toohey, Jahmai Mashack
- Hawks get: 2nd swap, David Roddy, cash considerations
- Lakers get: Adou Thiero
- T-Wolves get: Rocco Zikarsky, 2 second-round picks, cash considerations
Did the Rockets fleece the rest of the teams?
While many parts were moved, it seems that the Rockets just pull out a heist on the NBA. While giving Jalen Green wasn’t great, you’re bringing Kevin Durant, who is still a 26 point-per-game despite his age. However, they also brought back a known face in Clint Capela, who is a great rim protector.

The Rockets now have NBA championship experience in Fred VanVleet and Kevin Durant. Now, they also have great prospects like Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson. If you add Steven Adams and Clint Capela as rim protectors, this is not only a great team, but a deep roster with pace, experience and strengths everywhere.

The Rockets might have it all to challenge for the championship
Houston had the second best record in the Western Conference. They finished 52-30. But what is an incredible feat is how well-distributed their offense was. They had six players over 12 points a game. For next season, four of those players are still back.
This is a team that has all the tools to challenge Oklahoma City in the Western Conference. If health is there, Houston might not have a problem, but be a problem to the rest of the NBA.
