Stephen Curry didn’t mince words following his first full scrimmage since sidelined with a right knee injury. While the two-time MVP was encouraged by his progress, he remains cautious about the final hurdles of his return to the Golden State Warriors rotation.

“It felt great. I’m checking the boxes,” Curry told reporters after the session. “But with this, it’s always unpredictable. I don’t know how the knee will respond because it hasn’t responded well in past attempts to get to this 5-on-5 level.”

Curry has been sidelined for two months, a devastating blow in a season defined by a crowded training room. Beyond Curry’s absence, the Warriors have been hampered by a string of bad luck: Jimmy Butler has missed nearly 80% of the regular season, Kristaps Porzingis has struggled to stay on the floor, and rookie Quinten Post was recently ruled out for the remainder of the year.

Targeting the home stretch

While Curry isn’t circling a specific date just yet, the successful scrimmage is the most significant sign of life in his recovery. If his knee remains stable over the next 48 hours, a return to action is finally within sight.

Stephen Curry looks on

The Warriors have already ruled Curry out for the upcoming clash with the San Antonio Spurs, and he remains questionable for the matchup against Cleveland.

However, the internal buzz is centering on an April 5 showdown with the Houston Rockets. If he clears that hurdle, Curry would have four games left in the regular season to shake off the rust and find his rhythm before the postseason.

The play-in picture

With the clock ticking, Kerr and the rest of the roster are focused on survival. While a guaranteed playoff spot is mathematically out of reach, the Warriors are fighting to defend their territory in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

Golden State currently sit in the tenth seed, the final ticket to the postseason dance. While it holds a comfortable 11-game cushion over the Memphis Grizzlies, the goal isn’t just to get in; it’s to have its franchise centerpiece healthy enough to make a run once they do.
