Toronto Raptors’ Terence Davis was arrested last night in New York City after assaulting his girlfriend, pretty much ruin his short NBAcareer. A statement issued by the police reads that the victim visited the playerat the Beekman Hotel in the lower Manhattan area at 8:30 p.m. ET. Somehow they engaged in a verbal dispute, things got out of control and Davis got physical with the woman.
He hit her in the face before breaking his phone, according to the statement. To make things worse,the woman’s son was standing next to her when things happened. After Davis hit her, the kid fell.Defense lawyer Greg Esposito expressed that Davis denies the things exposed in the statement and won’t make any comments on the situation.
Davis has been charged on seven counts, including misdemeanor charges of assault, attempted assault, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief, aggravated harassment and harassment. The Raptors stated they’re aware of the situation and are waiting for more details to make a decision about Davis.
NBA fans react to Davis’ charges
If you’re an NBA player, it is very difficult for you to have a low-profile life, especially when you make these kinds of things. NBA fans couldn’t hide their surprise and disappointment in Davis after learning the news of his case, with everybody agreeing that his NBA dream is pretty much over after this incident.
Davis went undrafted from Ole Miss, was signed by the Raptors and this season he showed a couple of good things, recording 7.5 points per game, playing 72 games with the franchise and making it to the All-Rookie Second Team. Two years ago, the Raptorswaived Kay Felder immediately following his arrest on domestic violence charges. Things aren’t clear yet, but it looks like Davis will have the same fate.
