It’s not a secret that Odell Beckham Jr and the New York Giants parted ways on bad terms. The team often tried to point the finger at him as the scapegoat, and he’s been pretty outspoken about that situation.
And, while it’s not like Beckham has fared any well since leaving The Big Apple and it’s been two years already, it’s clear that the Louisiana State University product still holds some grudges towards his former team.
That’s why his teammate Baker Mayfield recently revealed that the Cleveland Browns are going to be extra motivated to beat the New York Giants at homeon Sunday to honor their injured teammate.
Baker Mayfield Says The Browns Will Be Locked In To Beat The Giants For Odell Beckham Jr
“This one would mean a ton to him. Not necessarily in a revenge way, but whenever you play a team that you are familiar with — I had the same thing in college going back and playing Texas Tech — it means a lot to you. We are going to play for him because he is one of our guys so we need to do that,” Mayfield told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Odell Beckham Jr was barely able to play this year. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury and some people even speculate whether he’ll come back to the team next year or if they’ll find him a trade partner.
Whatever the case may be, it’s obvious that OBJ would’ve loved to be out there on the field to face and beat the New York Giants’ top-notch defense, but it seems like he’ll have to wait another year for that. Now, it’s up to Baker Mayfield and his teammates to step up for him and give him something to cheer for right before Christmas.
