Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers will face Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second preseason game for both teams. Probably the last chance for Mike Tomlin and Todd Bowles to give some of their starters a few minutes.
The Steelers are trying to get back into Super Bowl contention after a major shakeup in their roster. General Manager Omar Khan was very aggressive, signing stars like DK Metcalf, Jonnu Smith, and Jalen Ramsey. In addition, in a very important move, Pittsburgh was finally able to give TJ Watt a contract extension.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers have found in Mayfield the franchise quarterback who took over the mantle left by Tom Brady. Tampa has dominated the NFC South in recent years, and now they will look to take the next step with their core group intact, led by Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Vita Vea.
Is Aaron Rodgers playing for today with Steelers against Buccaneers?
Aaron Rodgers is not playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that once again he will rest most of his starters, taking a similar approach to the first preseason game in Jacksonville.
Tomlin had the advantage of seeing his starters in action during a joint practice held this week with the Bucs at Acrisure Stadium. Because of that, he doesnât see it as necessary for them to play in Saturdayâs game.

Is Baker Mayfield playing for Bucs against Steelers?
No. Baker Mayfield is not expected to play against the Steelers because Todd Bowles was satisfied with what the quarterback showed during that joint practice. This was confirmed in a report by Rick Stroud.
âAfter reviewing the tape of todayâs practice, Todd Bowles just told me he believes Baker Mayfield played so well today in the joint workout with the Steelers he will NOT play in Saturday nightâs game.â
