Even though most people thought theyâd be a borderline playoff team this season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have proven his doubters that theyâre one of the strongest teams in the NFL right now.
Yes, theyâve had the easiest schedule in the league thus far and have mostly beaten teams with a losing record, but winning 10 straight games in the NFL isnât something many teams have done. Ever.
Thatâs why a lot of fans and analysts are looking at the possibility of having a perfect season with a16-0 record. Nevertheless, thatâs not whatâs going through Ben Roethlisbergerâs mind right now.
Ben Roethlisberger Says The Steelers Are Chasing Lombardis, Not Records
âWeâre not chasing perfection in terms of a perfect 16-0. Weâre chasing (Vince) Lombardis (trophies). Thatâs the most important thing for us,â Roethlisberger toldGerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Big Ben Knows The Steelersâ Offense Has Been Subpar
The veteran quarterback added that even though their defense has been nothing short of spectacular, the offense still has plenty of work to do if they want to put an end to their Super Bowl drought:
âWe got to put more points on the board. I know what the scoreboard says, but there were too many times we punted and didnât do enough. Offensively, weâre happy we got the win, but we know we have to be better,â Big Ben concluded.
The Steelers have the best defense in the league right now and feature plenty of offensive weapons, so Roethlisberger has a valid point. If they want to go the distance and prove their doubters wrong this season, they need to execute better.
