The San Francisco 49ers confirmed on Wednesday the suspension of Demarcus Robinson. The NFC West club responded quickly by trading with the Kansas City Chiefs for a new wide receiver to help Brock Purdy.
Just hours after HC Kyle Shanahan announced that Demarcus Robinson would be suspended for three games, the 49ers reached out to the Chiefs and acquired Skyy Moore, who is set to join San Francisco for the 2025 NFL season.
Moore, who struggled in 2024, arrives to bolster a receivers group facing multiple issues. He is expected to provide depth to the roster and could become a key weapon for Purdy this year.
Skyy Moore joins a talented, yet depleted 49ers receivers room
On Wednesday, the 49ers landed Skyy Moore and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Chiefs in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round draft choice, according to Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero.
Earlier in the day, head coach Kyle Shanahan told KNBR that Demarcus Robinson would be suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, which led the team to make the trade with Kansas City.

Moore, 24, entered the league in 2022 as a second-round pick by the Chiefs. He has started only 11 games, recording 43 receptions for 494 yards and one touchdown in his career.
While Moore is expected to serve as the team’s WR4, his addition is crucial at this moment. Not only is Demarcus Robinson suspended for three games, but there are also lingering concerns about the health of Brandon Aiyuk and Jordan Watkins.
Though Moore hasn’t enjoyed the production once expected of him, his background could prove valuable to San Francisco. He played under Andy Reid and caught passes from Patrick Mahomes—experience that few young receivers can bring to the table.
