Dak Prescott has unfinished business since entering the NFL â namely, leading the Dallas Cowboys back to the Super Bowl. After several failed runs, Prescott now dreams of finally achieving that goal with new head coach Brian Schottenheimer at the helm as they prepare for whatâs next.
Following Mike McCarthyâs departure as head coach, former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer stepped in to take the reins. For Dak Prescott â one of the franchiseâs most prominent leaders â this new chapter presents an exciting challenge, and heâs embracing it with enthusiasm.
âJust excitement,â Prescott said to the press. âIâve known Schotty. Heâs been there the last three years, first year being a consultant, that itâs not any monumental conversations that needed to happen, but his direction and the way he sees this offense going, the way he sees this team knowing, itâs clear throughout the team with the guys, with the men heâs hired as coaches, the way heâs got this whole building on the same page. Just excited for this chapter under him.â
Can they achieve their ultimate goal and get the Cowboys back on track? Only they â and their teammates â truly know the answer. All that remains now is for the ball to start rolling. Once Week 1 kicks off, weâll begin to see whether the synergy between the new staff and the roster translates into results on the field.
Prescottâs road to recovery
Americaâs Team didnât just struggle on the field last season â they also faced serious setbacks on the injury front. Dak Prescott was no exception, missing a significant portion of the campaign due to a serious hamstring injury. Now, with his sights set firmly on the future, the veteran quarterback made a bold admission regarding his recovery and return to lead Jerry Jonesâ Cowboys back into contention.
âIf I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that,â Prescott said at Fridayâs 35th annual Childrenâs Cancer Fund gala, via the team website. âItâs about moving forward healthy to make sure I can play 17 times, 20 [games], whatever we get to when the timeâs right.â
He also added: âIâm getting close to where I want to be, I donât want to put a percentage on it. I know weâve got team activities coming up, imagine myself being involved in some sort if not all. âThen again I just understand my age, what Iâve had, what Iâve went through, itâs about being my best in the fall. So Iâm not rushing anything, but Iâm where I want to be.â
