Once again, Dak Prescott will be the one leading the charge on the field for a Dallas Cowboys team determined to finally break into the group of true title contenders. Several new faces brought in during the latest NFL Draft are ready to give it their all to help their quarterback reach that goal.
Shavon Revel is one of the new talents added to Brian Schottenheimer’s team in the latest draft, although his selection came much later than expected due to an injury he sustained during his final season in College Football.
When he tore his ACL while playing for East Carolina last September, the talented cornerback began to wonder what his NFL future might look like. Fortunately for him — and despite not being selected as high as he had hoped — the Cowboys came calling, and they’ll now have his services for the upcoming season.
“Right now I can pretty much do everything,” Revel said, via the team’s website. “Running straight line, cutting, haven’t gotten too much into that, just trying to take it day by day, trying to take it slow.”

Shavon Revel of East Carolina speaks to the media during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium on February 27, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Cowboys team doctor Dan Cooper was the one who successfully performed the surgery on Revel’s injury — a key factor that ultimately allowed him to be selected in the third round of the draft with the 76th overall pick.

One of the recurring issues for the Cowboys last season—aside from disappointing results—was the high number of injuries, many of them serious, in their secondary. Josh Butler emerged as one of the team’s standout performers despite playing only a handful of games, but a torn ACL forced him to miss the remainder of the season.
There’s a strong sense of optimism surrounding the return of the talented cornerback, with many believing he’ll be ready to showcase his full potential as early as Week 1 for Dallas — a belief shared by head coach Brian Schottenheimer himself.
“He’s doing great. He could potentially be on PUP. It’s really early still right now, but he’s doing great in his rehab. He’s here every day. He’s one of the first ones here, one of the last ones to leave,” the HC stated to the press.
