The Dallas Cowboys quickly went from Super Bowl candidate to one of the NFL’s laughing stocks this season, and Dak Prescott’s gruesome season-ending injury didn’t do much to help their chances to compete.

Dallas’ defense has been terrible throughout the year and Ezekiel Elliott just can’t seem to take care of the football, piling up 5 fumbles already this season. However, the worst part of the Cowboys’ season has been the coaching, and it’s not even close.

That was at full display during their humiliating 41-16 home loss to the Washington Football Team for Thanksgiving, as Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore continued to find ways to shoot themselves in the foot over and over.

Their incompetence reached an all-time high last night, as they attempted not one but two fake punts on their own half of the field and didn’t convert either of them. Moreover, the second was in the fourth quarter, in 4&10, with the game 20-16, on their own 24-yard line. It was hilariously bad.

The Cowboys now hold a 3-8 record and pretty much kissed the playoffs goodbye with this embarrassing loss, even considering just how terrible the NFC East has been throughout the season.

Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore could have the benefit of the doubt after losing his starting quarterback so early in the season, but there’s just no excuse for these kinds of calls when the game is on the line, and they’re likely to be out of their jobs by the end of the year.
