It’s crazy to say this, but… are the Jacksonville Jaguars one of the most interesting teams in the NFL right now? They brought in a new head coach Liam Coen to try and salvage the career of quarterback Trevor Lawrence. They also drafted the shiniest of prospects in the draft, Travis Hunter. Besides that, they have one of the best weapons in the league in Brian Thomas Jr. Still, coach Coen is impressed with another guy on the roster.
That guy is Dyami Brown, new wideout coming from Washington. Trevor Lawrence spoke greatly about him a few days ago, and now, the head coach is singing his praises too.
“You look at somebody that’s able to attack the field at all three levels,” Coen said to Michael DiRocco from ESPN. “He can go down the field on the post, in the ‘go,’ in the pylons and be the top shelf, but also you can throw him a screen and he can go and do something with it. I can’t coach that. I can’t coach you to go and make three people miss after you’ve caught the ball. . . . That’s what he can do.“
Dyami Brown always showed potential on the Commanders
While his stats on Washington weren’t as great, Brown was always a guy who showed plenty of promise. He had to play as a second and third-fiddle to other receivers. While that role will be the same in Jacksonville, he has a coach that loves distributing the rock.

Dyami Brown #2 of the Washington Commanders celebrates after a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens during the first half of the preseason game at FedExField on August 21, 2023 in Landover, Maryland.
Liam Coen was the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he had plenty of receivers to feed. To some degree, they all got their share. Coen is a guy who likes explosive plays, and his playcalling can get very pass-happy. Brown impressing both coach and quarterback will go a long way for him.

Brown might be a third-almost-second option on the Jaguars
T-Law’s first option is Brian Thomas Jr. That is clear as day. The second, that goes to rookie Travis Hunter, but he also plays cornerback. Travis Kelce, from the Chiefs, recently said teams will wear Hunter down when he’s on defensive duties, so that means he might get fatigued and have his snap count reduced.
That’s where Brown’s role gets more relevant. If Hunter is tired or can’t get separation due to the lack of stamina, Brown will practically become the second option on all three levels of offense for Trevor Lawrence.
