If you've been an NFL fan for long, you know that there are always plenty of coaches that don't make it through the season. Either because they underperform, they run out of luck, or just because of their personality, someone's always getting the boot in the National Football League.

The NFL is all about winning, or so they say. So, when the fans start to make noise and the team starts to pile up numbers in the losing column, it's only a matter of time before the coach hits the road.

The 2020/21 NFL season wasn't the exception to that rule. So, even despite the obstacle-riddled season, the pandemic, and whatnot, team owners were ruthless once again. Therefore, we present you with the list of coaches fired in 2020.

NFL Executives And Assistants Fired In 2020

As of December 31, 2020, these are the general managers and assistants that were fired before the end of the season:

+ Bob Quinn - GM, Detroit Lions
+ Dave Caldwell - GM, Jacksonville Jaguars
+ Paul Guenther - Defensive Coordinator, Las Vegas Raiders
+ Marty Hurney - GM, Carolina Panthers

NFL Coaches Fired In 2020

Bill O'Brien - Houston Texans

To be honest, most people were surprised this didn't happen before. Bill O'Brien also handled the GM duties and made a massive mess out of the Houston Texans' once-promising roster, and the results showed on the field. Bill O'Brien lost control of the team and the Texans wasted yet another year of Deshaun Watson, so it wasn't a surprise to see them let Bill go.

Dan Quinn - Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons were one of the biggest disappointments of the season. They had a somewhat revamped roster, a proven quarterback, and were one of the best teams in the league just a couple of years ago. Notably, they started winning games and stopped blowing leads once they kissed Dan Quinn goodbye.

Matt Patricia - Detroit Lions

It's incredible to think just how patient the Detroit Lions were with Matt Patricia. Clearly, that defensive mastermind from the New England Patriots was nowhere to be found, as he didn't have Bill Belichick by his side. Matthew Stafford played well but the team constantly shot themselves in the foot, and now it seems like they're heading towards a rebuild.

NFL Coaches On The Hot Seat

Even though there haven't been any official news yet, the following coaches could be the next in line to be fired:

+ Adam Gase - New York Jets
+ Doug Marrone - Jacksonville Jaguars
+ Vic Fangio - Denver Broncos
+ Doug Pederson - Philadelphia Eagles
+ Matt Nagy - Chicago Bears
+ Anthony Lynn - Los Angeles Chargers
