In just a few days, several college football players will take the next step and become professionals. The NFL Draft kicks off on April 24th, with the first round always being the most exciting part of the event.

The first 32 selections are crucial for bolstering any roster. On the defensive side, there’s no talent quite like Abdul Carter, but as happens every year, defensive players often get overshadowed by offensive prospects.

Unfortunately for him, the NFL is a league that prioritizes the offensive side of the ball. While Carter may be a standout pass rusher, it appears he is not entirely set to be a top-3 pick despite his remarkable talent.

The Titans, Browns, and Giants, who hold the top three selections, are all in transition at the quarterback position, which is why they may opt to draft one in the first round. Nevertheless, Abdul Carter believes they shouldn’t make the mistake of passing on a game-changing defender like him.

Reports suggest that the Titans, Browns, and Giants may not select Abdul Carter. Still, the star EDGE has made one last pitch to those teams, urging them to go for a defensive star like him who could have a greater impact than a quarterback.

Abdul Carter #11 of the Penn State Nittany Lions celebrates after sacking Will Howard #18 of the Ohio State Buckeyes during the second quarter at Beaver Stadium on November 02, 2024 in State College, Pennsylvania.

“Those great defensive players, you look in the history, they can impact the game just as much as a quarterback,” Carter said, via ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “There’s been defensive players who’ve taken over a game right at the end of Super Bowl in those playoffs scenes where you really need that great defensive player and he also makes people around him better. So I feel like just saying that, seeing how defensive players can take over a game, we’re just like a quarterback.”
