Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes received good news on Sunday, but the Kansas City Chiefs are still waiting for more players to come back ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Training camp got off to a challenging start for the Kansas City Chiefs, with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes seeing multiple players missing practices due to injury. At least they welcomed back a familiar face just days before their debut in the 2025 NFL preseason.

On Sunday, wide receiver Skyy Moore returned to practice after spending a few days on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. However, the Chiefs had to settle with the wideout working out separately as they couldn’t rush him yet.

Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride reported that Moore, who had been out since Tuesday, was seen with a compression sleeve on his right leg for what turned out to be an individual session, which Moore also used to stretch.

Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest added that Moore worked and ran sprints on the side with athletic trainer David Glover while Mahomes and company, on Reid’s watch, practiced on the field.

Still, we’re talking about a positive update for a Chiefs team that is currently dealing with notable absences. Early in training camp, Mahomes and Reid are missing key players on both sides of the ball.

Almost time for football

Even though there are still many weeks to go for Week 1, the Chiefs will finally get a taste of football with the start of the 2025 NFL preseason. On Saturday, August 9, Kansas City will play the Arizona Cardinals on the road.

Less than a week later, Reid’s team will travel to Seattle for a preseason game against the Seahawks on Aug. 15. It won’t be until August 22 that the Chiefs will return to Arrowhead, where they’ll host the Chicago Bears. Whether Mahomes gets significant playing time remains to be seen, just like the presence of his injured teammates.
