CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys are in trouble. America’s Team hasn’t won the Super Bowl in nearly 30 years, and it’s fair to say that the NFC East is now one of the toughest divisions in the league with the Eagles and the Commanders as championship contenders.

As a result, Jerry Jones has started making very important moves. Osa Odighizuwa signed a four-year, $80 million contract. Additionally, Lamb restructured his deal to free up $20 million in the salary cap.

However, that may not be enough to create cap room. It’s important to remember that Dak Prescott is the highest-paid player in NFL history with his $240 million contract, and that Micah Parsons is still waiting for his well-deserved extension.

How long is Dak Prescott’s contract?

Before the 2024 season, Dak Prescott signed a four-year contract with the Cowboys, so the quarterback is locked to stay in Dallas until the end of the 2028 season. That deal represents a massive hit to the salary cap.

In light of this scenario, a fan told CeeDee Lamb this about his contract restructure on X: “Such a dumb move, can I ask why?” The wide receiver’s response was decisive: “I want to win. It’s gonna take more than just myself.”

That message served as a warning to Dak Prescott, as many experts point out that if Lamb agreed to a restructure just a year after signing his latest deal, the quarterback should do the same in order to help the team as soon as possible.

The alert worked. Just a few hours after the Lamb’s exchange, the Cowboys have reportedly restructured Dak Prescott’s contract to get $36.6 million in cap space.
