The Dallas Cowboys continue their rebuild ahead of the 2025 NFL season following a disappointing campaign last year, where Dak Prescott‘s team failed to reach the playoffs. In an effort to improve results, owner Jerry Jones has taken action, and his team has signed a former teammate of quarterback Joe Burrow from the Cincinnati Bengals.
Burrow and Prescott share similar goals for the upcoming season. Both quarterbacks missed the playoffs in 2024 and are now looking for stronger support around them. The Cowboys star is fighting to bounce back quickly from his extended injury, while the Bengals’ QB1 has played a key role in pushing for contract extensions for his top weapons like Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.
It’s well known that Cincinnati has been clearing space on its roster for some time to make room for young stars. In this case, a player who was a Super Bowl finalist with the Bengals and was released by the franchise in 2023 will now join the Cowboys.
The Cowboys’ new player
Dak Prescott has a new teammate on offense, and it is none other than offensive linebacker Hakeem Adeniji, who joins the Cowboys‘ 90-man roster for the offseason. The information was confirmed by NFL insider Jordan Schultz on his X account (formerly Twitter).
Adeniji was selected in the sixth round of the 2020 draft by the Bengals, where he showed versatility and experience in his three seasons with the team. After a long stint in Cincinnati, where he appeared in 39 regular season games with 15 starts, the offensive lineman bounced around to other franchises and will now join Dallas to restart his career.

In addition to playing for the Bengals, Adeniji joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2023 and the Cleveland Browns in 2024, adding depth and flexibility to both teams’ offensive lines.
