In the NFL offseason, the Los Angeles Rams are making big decisions regarding star wide receiver Cooper Kupp. After securing the continuity of quarterback Matthew Stafford for next season, head coach Sean McVay’s team has what appears to be a final resolution on another of their Super Bowl champions.
Kupp was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. All indications are that there will not be an eighth season in Los Angeles for the Super Bowl LVI champion alongside Stafford. The never-ending rumors about the veteran receiver’s future may soon come to an end.
In early February, the Rams announced that they would be seeking a trade for Kupp, one of their stars. From that moment on, all kinds of statements and rumors began to surface from those involved, fueling speculation about the future of the Los Angeles franchise’s wide receiver.
Rams to make final decision on Kupp’s future
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Rams will release WR Cooper Kupp rather than trade him. The Los Angeles franchise has been unable to find a trade partner for the Super Bowl LVI MVP. That means they could release one of their stars to settle on his next destination.

What did HC Sean McVay say about Kupp’s future?
“Cooper Kupp has had a massive impact on my life. I’m a better person because of him, and we’ve been [through] a lot together. His legacy is cemented as a Ram, and he’s gonna do a great job wherever his next stop is,” McVay boldly stated about the wide receiver’s case.

The Rams decided to waive Kupp due to financial and performance considerations. In addition, the 31-year-old veteran has struggled with injuries, appearing in just 33 of 50 games since 2022. Following the decision to restructure quarterback Stafford’s contract, general manager Les Snead have indicated that Kupp was unlikely to return to the team, citing his high salary cap impact and the need to restructure the roster.
