The Green Bay Packers, like the rest of the teams in the NFL, are getting ready to present the final 53-man roster for the upcoming season. The deadline is August 26th, so ramblings around the buildings are starting. One of those names that could be cut is a potential key weapon for Jordan Love. However, coach Matt LaFleur sent a clear message about that.

Romeo Doubs has had his fair share of ups and downs since being drafted by the Packers. Hence, it’s been rumored that he could be out of the team once the Packers present their 53-man roster.

Appearing on Up & Adams, Matt LaFleur was asked about Doubs and he was clear:  If Doubs is cut, he would be “very shocked, also emphasizing that a release “will not happen.”

Rookies have threaten Doubs’ output

First-round pick Matthew Golden and third-rounder Savion Williams have been doing really good during the NFL training camps. Hence, Doubs’ place on the roster has been put into question. Doubs played 13 games in 2024, amassing 46 catches for 601 yards and four touchdowns.

LaFleur also said Doubs is “out there competing and doing everything that we need to see from him.” LaFleur also stated, “Obviously, he’s played a lot of ball for us and at a high level. He’s been a great teammate. He goes out there and you can count on him every day.”

What’s the Packers depth chart for the wide receivers?

Romeo Doubs is projected to be a starter on the team, alongside Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed. After them, Savion Williams is making strides and, eventually, Christian Watson will be back from injury. On the backup at the slot, Dontayvion Wicks will be useful and the Packers also brought Mecole Hardman to the team.

This roster has no elite talent on the wideout department, but all those players are in the B to A- range. While no one will get to the 1,000-yard mark (judging by seasons prior), most of them will be contributing between 400 and 700 yards, with some dancing around the 800-900 mark. Hence, Jordan Love should still be able to produce with these weapons.
