Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks are ready to host the New England Patriots for Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season. Obviously, this Sunday Night Football matchup will steal all the headlines around the sports community.

Wilson will face a red-hot Patriots’ defense that’ll try and do everything on their power to make him uncomfortable. Needless to say, that’s easier said than done, as the former Super Bowl champion is one of the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks of all time.

Russell put his skills at full display during his Week 1 triumph at the Atlanta Falcons. He torched their secondary with 31 completions in 35 attempts, 322 yards, 4 touchdowns, plus 3 rushes for an additional 29 yards.

Wilson also joined Steve Young as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for over 30,000 yards and rush for over 4,000 yards in his career. So, when asked about the best way to stop him, Patriots’ star Stephon Gilmore acknowledged that there’s no such thing as stopping him but you can beat his wide receivers.

“He throws some balls where only his guy can catch it, so you’ve really got to play great technique & be really tight on WRs. He can buy time, he can buy extra time to get his WRs open, so it’s going to be a team effort to stop a guy like him,” Gilmore said.

Wilson has made a name for himself for his ability to create something out of a broken play and buying time outside of the pocket. He can hurt you with his arm or his feet and is a master at shaking off the pressure.

Gilmore and the Patriots’ secondary are going to have their hands full trying to keep up with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, two of the fastest, strongest, most athletic receivers in the game but hey, at least they’ve got a plan.
