Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams were at the center of one of the offseasonâs biggest stories, which ultimately ended with the veteran quarterback agreeing to stay on for at least one more year. Once that year concludes, the former Lions QB made his intentions for the future of his NFL career clear.
There was much speculation in recent weeks about what Stafford might do this offseason, and after several negotiations, he ultimately decided to stay with the Rams and once again try to be a contender in the NFC West.
From now on, many have begun to question what the future holds for the 37-year-old player, as he enters the final stage of his career. In a recent appearance on New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce, Stafford made his intentions clear about what he wants to do in the league once this season concludes.
âIâm going to be here at least another year, and hopefully some after that,â Stafford told Jason and Travis Kelce. âWe worked something out last year at the 11th hour to figure it out right before training camp with the understanding that weâre going to re-address this, if I want to play again next year.â

Stafford reflected on the interest from other teams in signing him
After the news broke about Stafford potentially leaving the Rams, something that ultimately didnât happen, many teams began inquiring about the terms to sign him. Regarding this, the QB shared his thoughts during his appearance on The Morning After With Kelly Stafford and Hank.
âI was talking to Kelly the other day just about this process and how it can sometimes feel like such a negative, itâs a tough thing, you know, youâre going through all these things,â Stafford said. âBut at the same time, I was talking to somebody and they kind of gave me the perspective of like, âMan, this is such a positive time in your life. Youâre 37 years old going into your 17th NFL season and somebody still wants you to be on their team.â Thatâs a rare occurrence and something I donât take for granted, I donât take lightly.
âItâs still a humbling thing to have teamsâand most importantly, the team Iâm playing for in the Ramsâexcited about me being a part of their team and helping them lead the way. Itâs a cool thing and hopefully we have a great season and get to figure it out again next year and continue to keep playing, weâll see.â
